DESCRIBE YOURSELF AND THE WORK THAT YOU CREATE.

Well, that's hard to nail down. Most of the time, if I’m not designing something, I’m out snapping photographs or occasionally recording music.

WHO HAVE YOU WORKED WITH AND WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE ASSIGNMENT?

Land Rover, Mercedes, Sony Pictures, 20th Century Fox, Ford, Samsung, Walmart, and Snapchat. The Land Rover project was a ton of fun, getting to explore and document a journey through the Smoky Mountains with my wife is unforgettable.

RECOUNT YOUR JOURNEY TO BECOMING AN ARTIST.

I think it probably started out as a kid; I was always drawing dinosaurs or birds. Then I later became interested in Paint on the computer. In college I realized that fine arts didn’t comfortably pay the bills, so I decided to study graphic design, which has proved profitable ever since.

YOU'VE TAKEN A LOT OF RISKS ALONG THE WAY, BUT WHAT WAS YOUR DEFINING ONE WHERE EVERYTHING WAS ON THE LINE?

Probably moving my family around several times. It’s not that hard when you’re single. It’s a bit harder when you’re married, but then you have one kid it gets tricky, and with two, things get pretty challenging.

HOW HAS YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS SUPPORTED YOU THROUGHOUT IT ALL?

My parents have always pushed me to be creative and supported me throughout the years. My wife is much more down to earth than I, and we’ve grown to understand that the dreamer in me and the realist in her can work together to produce great things.

LOOKING BACK ON ALL THAT HAS UNFOLDED, WHAT NUGGETS OF WISDOM HAVE YOU LEARNED AND EMBRACED?

Try to remain patient with life and understand that things take time because people take time to work through. Things may not always work out, and may look a lot different in the end to how you envisioned it in the beginning.

IF YOU COULD GIVE YOUR YOUNGER SELF ONE PIECE OF ADVICE, WHAT WOULD THAT BE?

Don’t let anything deter you or stop you from seeing the world while you can. The older you get, the harder it can become. Don’t be afraid to change, but also be consistent with your work. Be adaptable.

WHAT DO YOU FEEL HAS ALLOWED YOU TO BREAK THROUGH AND SUCCEED, PARTICULARLY AMONGST YOUR PEERS?

Maybe it’s that I do a lot of different things on different mediums simultaneously, or maybe its that I just keep creating content. I’m not really sure. I’m open to trying new mediums, apps, or whatever it takes.

WHO ARE THE MENTORS THAT HAVE INFLUENCED AND INSPIRED YOUR LIFE?

People that work hard, and perpetually create great content. People of great character that don’t take things too personally but are always able to laugh at themselves. Honest, open, down to earth people that still know how to dream and not let politics or money get in the way.

IS THERE ANY ADVICE THAT YOU WOULD GIVE A YOUNG PERSON FOLLOWING THEIR PASSION AS AN ARTIST?

Similarly to the answer about a younger me...but also to just find the beauty right around them, revel in that and find joy in the day-to-day things.

WHEN IT COMES TO YOUR CREATIVITY, WHAT DO YOU FIND YOURSELF CONSTANTLY SEARCHING FOR?

Something that I’m proud of—that will have a lasting voice; something that brings joy and genuinely speaks to whoever may be listening.

WHAT ARE THE THINGS THAT KEEP YOU CREATIVELY INSPIRED AND CONSISTENTLY INNOVATING?

It really depends. I don’t seek out a lot of inspiration from others’ material. But occasionally may see things I like. I think most of mine comes from creating adventures for myself, even if it’s right around me - just driving down roads I’ve never been down or slowing down and walking instead of driving to see more details in something I’ve already seen before.

LOOKING AT OUR WORLD, WHAT DO YOU BELIEVE YOU CAN IMPACT AND CHANGE ABOUT IT?

Honestly, not that much. I hope to encourage people to do their own thing and be themselves. It’s hard when things are moving so fast like they are these days. I’ve been guilty of chasing a trend or mimicking a style; but in the end all of that will go away and you’ll just blend in and/or get left behind. Find your voice, and don’t take yourself too serious.

WE ALL DREAM OF LEAVING A LEGACY. WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE REMEMBERED FOR, AND WHY?

Hopefully someone that was a joy to be around; someone who inspired others to make cool stuff and get out and enjoy this short life we have.

ANY CURRENT ALBUMS, ARTISTS OR SONGS ON REPEAT?

Currently: High Highs, Temples, the new Bibio, new Jayhawks, Ten and Tracer. My favorite bands of all time are: Jellyfish, Tears for Fears, and Doves.

DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE MOVIE OR TV SHOW?

I don’t really watch TV much at all. Some of my favorite movies include: The Neverending Story (1st one only), Return to Oz, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (1971), The Brave Little Toaster, Gentlemen Broncos, Best in Show, Logan’s Run, and Clash of the Titans (1981).

FAVORITE BOOK?

I honestly don’t read that much, but I do have an extensive (40+) collection of Golden Field Guides (animals, nature, rocks, space, dinosaurs etc) that I started collecting as a kid.

FAVORITE FOOD?

That’s tough. I love Sushi, Thai, Indian, and a lot of Asian inspired foods, but I’ve always said that I think cheese would have to be my favorite specific food.

Hmmmm. Maybe that procrastination can actually help you? It does for me anyway. I only work under pressure, and will even fabricate it so that I push myself harder at times.
